I worked in game development... I don't think you understand how difficult it is. It's not easy to create open world maps. "some games"- use quad-trees, and LOD tricks to make the scenery detailed in small areas. Open world Flight sims can't use those tricks- you can't use binary space partitions.
If it matters, I worked for Heliotrope Studios, on Pax Imperia: Eminent Domain. I was a 3d modeler and wore some other hats. That's not complete proof, but I don't give a shit- you don't understand how difficult it is to produce open world models that can be rendered with the level of detail that DCS is doing.
